Kayaks are a great alternative to canoes and offer a different paddling experience. Riders can paddle at their own pace and go where and when they want to.

Our kayaks are great for sore backs as they all have back rests, unlike canoes.

Kayaks are much more maneuverable and easier to control than canoes.

We offer single (1 person) or double (2 person) kayaks for you to choose from.

We exclusively offer Jackson Kayaks (Riviera Model) which are an open design that you sit low in the kayak with your center of gravity similar to a traditional sit inside kayak. The kayaks have back support and 3 foot positions for people of all heights. The load capacity rating is 300lbs.

The kayaks have a small, recessed "cargo area" which is behind the passenger compartment, but does not include any tie down straps.

Life-Jackets are always available upon request before bus departs River View Campground.

Most of our trips begin with a short shuttle ride up-river to one of our landings. All of our shuttles depart at regularly scheduled times. On busy days we are shuttling many people up river and it is important for canoers to arrive at our bus loading area on time. If you miss your scheduled departure time, you will have to wait until the next shuttle bus that has extra room.

Once you arrive at our up-river landings, your kayaks will be set out and ready to go. Just take your pick and you are off!

There is no time-limit on our river trips, feel free to take as much time as you'd like. Our only guideline is that you must have your kayaks back to River View Campground no later than 6pm.

When you arrive at River View Campground's landing, pull your kayaks ashore and we'll take care of the rest. Your car or campsite is just a short walk away.

All of River View Campground's kayaks and equipment are inspected annually by the Arenac County Marine Patrol and registered by the State of Michigan.

Rules and Regulations

• RESERVATIONS: Are recommended and taken Sunday thru Thursday 10:00am-6:00pm (during the regular camping season). During the winter months, our reservation office is closed but returns telephone calls and emails as we receive them.
  
  
• ADVANCE PAYMENTS: Are required to guarantee your reservation and we cannot always guarantee specific campsites. (Reservations made less than 30 days in advance require full payment at the time of reservation.)
  
  
• BALANCE DUE: 30 days prior to your arrival or reservation not guaranteed.
  
  
• PAYMENT: Only cashiers checks, money orders, Master Card, Visa or Discover Cards will be accepted. ABSOLUTELY no personal checks.
  
  
• CANCELLATIONS: Made 30 days prior to your arrival will receive a full refund, less a $15 service charge. There are no refunds if cancellation is made within 30 days of arrival.
  
  
• REFUNDS: Will not be issued due to inclement weather or no-shows.
  
  
• RESPONSIBILITY: You are responsible for your own safety. No liability is accepted by River View Campground & Canoe Livery or its employees.
  
  
• ALCOHOL: Excessive use of alcohol will not be tolerated. Violators will be reported and required to leave the premises. Refunds will not be issued.
  
  
• Pets bringing their responsible owners to River View are welcome. Pets must be attended, kept on a leash and picked up after at all times. Failure to pick up droppings, leaving your pet unattended, excessive barking, or allowing pets to run loose will result in eviction with no refunds being issued. Pets are not allowed in the Bathhouse/Shower buildings at any time. If on the Playground they must be on a leash and attended to at all times. IF YOU ARE GOING ON A RIVER TRIP, YOUR PET MUST GO WITH YOU.
